Spending Priorities
By law, every dollar of Measure E must be spent on the uses designated by Oakland residents and specified in the measure, and not for any other purposes. The designated priorities are:
Protecting 911 Fire and Emergency Medical Response Times
Preventing 911 emergency response times from increasing; keeping fire stations open; preventing cuts to fire protection service; maintaining disaster preparedness measures; and conducting fire inspections.
Addressing Crime and Safety
Preventing and responding to violent crimes, burglaries, and smash/grabs; conducting crime investigations; reducing gun violence; maintaining community-based policing and crime prevention programs.
Developing Solutions to Homelessness
Reducing and removing encampments by connecting unhoused people with housing, addiction, and mental health services; providing temporary shelter, transitional housing; and referrals to County services and nonprofit programs.
Improving Oakland’s Cleanliness
Addressing illegal dumping, litter, and trash on city streets, sidewalks, and parks; removing debris, graffiti, and abandoned items from public spaces; deploying rapid-response and public works cleaning teams to improve cleanliness and safety.
