What is YES on E?
Nearly 30,000 Oaklanders joined Firefighters, teachers, and nurses to place Measure E on the ballot – not politicians.
Measure E – the Oakland Public Safety, Cleanliness, and Accountability Act of 2026 – is on the June 2nd ballot, specifically designed to maintain fire protection services and emergency response times, address gun violence, homeless encampments, illegal dumping/trash, and violent crime.
Why should I support or vote YES on E?
YES on E ensures Oakland continues to have consistent levels of city funding to maintain our essential services, including:
- Preventing 911 medical, fire, and police emergency response times from increasing.
- Keeping fire stations open.
- Maintaining violent crime investigation.
- Addressing homeless encampments, illegal dumping, litter, and trash on streets and parks.
Is YES on E fiscally accountable?
YES. Measure E is subject to tough accountability protections, including public disclosure of all spending, independent audits, and citizen oversight to monitor spending. Measure E also includes low-income exemptions, including for seniors. By law, all Measure E money is locally controlled and must be spent only on the uses designated by Oakland residents and specified in the measure.
How will YES on E reduce taxes?
YES on E replaces an expiring property assessment with a lower one that reduces taxes for a majority of Oakland homeowners to continue funding for the essential city services our community relies on.
